The exhibit

Rex is the museum’s mystery exhibit. Its original page did not survive the archive — what remains is the splash screen that greeted every visitor to funkyelite.com in those years, carrying the site’s founding motto: funky people, funky nights, funky atmosphere.

What did survive, gloriously, is the photography: 84 frames of Saturday nights in full swing. Read them as the page we lost — the crowd, the flashbulbs, the small room doing big things.
